Oklahoma Coordinator's Letter #1
Coordinator Letter #1 – October 18, 2001

Hello Oklahoma Runners,

Greetings from your OK coordinators! We are working diligently to coordinate runners across Oklahoma. We want to include everyone with an interest in being a part of this incredible event!! If you asked to run, you will get to run! With so many runners signed up, there will most likely be several runners on the road at a time. This will just keep momentum going across this great state!

Runners will begin on the OK/TX border on Sunday, October 28, 2001 at 1:00p.m. We are to be at the TX/OK border (of course, a different border) again on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 by 1:30a.m. REMEMBER: Sunday will be the first day of Daylight Savings! Don’t miss us!

The plan is to divide the state into 10 legs, with 30 (give or take a little) miles in each leg. We are using a 10/11minute per mile pace. We know that can be faster/slower depending on the runner. We plan to have specifics to runners as soon as possible. Information will get to you via OK pages on web. We plan to drive the route to provide the best information to all participants. Watch for the map and time table. It is coming real soon!

We are working on logistics. Any ideas, suggestions, or contacts you have, please e-mail OK coordinators.

You are a valuable part of this endeavor! Lace your shoes and get ready to run!

Tell your friends. We want to have people along the way to cheer. This is BIG! Stories from the coast will make you smile or leave you weeping! Check out state pages where flag has already been.

Hang with us! We’re working as fast as we can.

Until later,
Dave, Fritz, Tim, and Susan
