Across America, people are coming together to complete the flights of Sept. 11.

The Flag Run raced out of Logan International Airport last Wednesday. Runners will make their way through the Tar Heel state today.

A Piedmont man has the chance to show that Americans are going the distance.

Capt. Chris Price not only loves the mechanics of planes, but he also loves to fly them.

Price is scheduled to help the country gain momentum in the fight against terrorism Wednesday, when he joins the race.

"There is no riding, no walking," Price said. "It is a continuous run from Boston to Los Angeles."

Price will trade in his captain's uniform for running shoes. It will be full throttle as he completes a six-mile leg of the nationwide flag run.

"I feel it is something the country needs, and I feel it's something the individual airlines need too," Price (pictured, left) said. "It's fulfilling for many different people in many different ways, but I think it's going to have a bigger impact on the employees of American and United."

Capt. Chris Price Organizer of the race, Mike Burr, said the idea to run with the flag started in his head.

"It started with an idea in my head, and I got a few of my good friends and fellow employees onboard," Burr said.

Now the idea has hit the road running.

The flag run is scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles by Nov. 11, one month after the run started.
