I heard about the flag run from some friends of mine. I immediately looked on the internet to get all the details. I knew instantly that I would do what I could to help. I also knew that I wanted my boys to be a part of it. I orginally just planned on offering my van to transport runners. Well, things didn't work out that way. Being a beginner runner, I went prepared to run a little. When I arrived at the meeting place, I was full of excitement. It didn't take much to convince me to run. As an added bonus, my two boys were told they could run. The anticipation grew as the flag approached. As we pulled out of the church, my family's discussion was what a wonderful idea this was and how inspiring it was to a part of it. What started out to be one of those "do my part" things has become one of the best things that I have ever done. As we drove home, I thought about all the people that had held that flag before us and all those that would hold it as it passed through the other states. I knew that although I would never meet these people, or even see the ones that I ran with again, we would all share something very special. This event put me and my boys on high that has lasted for days. The feelings that we have shared by doing this are undescribable. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful event. God Bless all of those who have participated in this, from the runners to the ones watching on the sides of the roads. Our prayers go out to all those touched by the events of September 11th and those touched by the flag run.
