I just wanted to let you all know how much this day has meant to not only myself, but a group of high school students from rural Arizona. We traveled 40 miles by bus to have the priviledge of running with the flag not only into Parker, Arizona, but into California as well. I eavesdropped on the conversations of my students after they were finished with their leg of the run. Comments ranged from "I can't help with the clean-up, I didn't know anyone who died. I now feel apart of the effort to heal our country" to "It's too bad that we can't go farther." We signed up to run just 5 miles. Some of my students ran as many as 13 miles. I cannot put into words my feelings watching the flag come into view for the first time, or the feeling of running through Parker to the chants of "USA! USA!" I have some pictures that I will send. They're not very good, but it doesn't matter. The memories that I have from this day are perfect. I think I have been in tears nearly all day. This is one of the most moving days I have ever experienced. I am proud of my students and very proud to be an American.
