My nane is Iris Tolley. I am CW4 Iris Tolley in the Utah Army National Guard. I live in Nephi, Utah.
My cousin Jolene Christensen and I traveled over 1,000 miles to be a part of this great FlagRun. We heard about it on the local news station out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Pulled up a map and found the closest point that we could be a part of this. We contacted Kathy in Phoenix and she was gracious enough to put us in a portion of the run. We arrived at Wickenburg to wait for the flag on the afternoon of November 8. It arrived on time and after a tearful ceremony at the local gas station it was handed off to our group of people to carry it to Aquila about 26 miles down the road. Everyone was given a chance to carry the flag and the names of all Airline employee that gave their lives in New York. It was a great experience that will stay in my heart forever. When we arrived at Aquila it was about midnight. The streets were lined with men, women and children cheering and yelling God Bless America. I have 30 years of Military Service so my love of the Flag and America go way back. I cried tears as we crossed the area that we then passed on these wonderful tributes to the people at Ground Zero. This will never be forgotten and I am prouid that I was a part of it.
