I ran two miles through Luke Air Force Base on the 8th with my friends Bunk and Rick. Wow! It was one of the greatest things I could be a part of. Then Bunk and I got in my wifes truck and she carted us down the road 4 miles to G and G Produce, where 8 more of the people from my detachment were waiting to run. The Commander, First Sergeant, and Operations NCO were there to support us, along with my family and a few others. Now I was really pumped! This was the leg that I coordinated and shared with the detachment. I'm sure glad I did. This was true patriotism, unity and esprit de corps. We ran 5 miles, passing our section of highway that we have volunteered to keep clean, ending up at Sun City Grand on Highway 60. We had a runner that wasn't as fast as the rest of us, but we stayed together and loved every minute of it. After the run, I went to school until 8 pm and then got a bite to eat at home, a nap, and was off to drive 1 ½ hours away to run 6 ½ miles with Bunk. We ran this leg with a Marine from Yuma. I'm Army, Bunk is Air Force. How can you beat that combination? I loved the whole thing. Thank you.
