I had the honor to join the Flagrun in PHX, and remained with the runners and the RV all the way to Dockwiler Beach. What a tremendous, uplifting experience! The dedication of the organizers... The enthusiasm of the runners... The cheering and clapping of the hundreds of people we passed... From PHX to Parker, I was either running, or with the RV, or shuttling cars. A fireman ran with full gear in PHX. There was a woderful celebration at Litchfield School. There were smiling policemen, running some 26 miles in the middle of Thursday night. We had wonderful fried egg sandwiches. The AZ State troopers stopped all traffic at a mile & a half construction zone to let the flag through, and the people who were delayed gave us high fives! I shuttled one runner's car six miles then waited for the Flag to catch up. As soon as the runners got to my place by the side of the road, she jubilantly asked, "How about another six?" Off I went... At Parker, I was able to say a couple of words before Ken White handed off the Flag to California Runners.
Thanks to Kathy, Sharon, Mike, Lynn and Anne, and all of the AZ runners. I was so proud to be part of this team.
