What an honor to be a part of this experience! I picked up the route at Central and Washington in Phoenix, Arizona. My initial intention was to be a volunteer for this event. When I found out the runner's pace had to slow down a bit to meet the timeline, I was ready and anxious to run! I felt humbled and privileged to carry the flag with the names of all the flight crews who lost their lives September 11, 2001. At that moment, my personal thoughts and prayers went to Michael Campana, a professor at UNM in Albuquerque, NM who lost his sister Ann Judge when American Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon.
