I want to express my appreciation for allowing me to participate in such a wonderful event! I,too, like so many others, had been waiting anxiously for almost an entire month for the Flag to reach CA. Words cannot describe the excitement and pride I felt when I saw the runners & other participants approaching the meeting point at Leg 43 in Fontana. I traveled with the entourage through Leg 47 in Azusa. I was so happy to see so many of my fellow neighbors from Rancho Cucamonga cheer us on as we ran through the City. I was impressed to see how many people were alongside the route in the wee hours of the morning to lend a supportive cheer. Perhaps the most memorable moment for me was when I had the opportunity to run through Glendora (my childhood hometown). My deceased parents are buried there & I felt it was an honor for me to participate in such a special occasion for them. My father was an Operations Planner for 32 years LAX/UAL, my mother had been a "stewardess" for LGA/UAL when she met my dad. My brother is a First Officer ORD/UAL & my sister is a Flight Attendant for DCA/UAL. I am a Customer Services agent for AA/LAX. This run was my way of dealing with the tragedies of 9/11; it was carthartic, by honoring those who gave their lives doing what they loved to do. Thanks again for such a memorable event !!
