... We looked down the street and saw a vision that I will never forget... It had rained earlier that night, and the sight of the reflection in the wet pavement…the police car flashing lights... the illumination of the headlights of the following motor home... the silhouettes of the runners proudly carrying the flag... the beautiful, shiny, waving flag that has come to mean so much to all Americans in the past two months... Here it came, having traveled over 3800 miles, the thousands of pairs of hands that had proudly, emotionally, carefully carried it across this wonderful country of ours, all in a show of support for the thousands of lives that have been directly affected by the horror of 9-11-01. And now, this honor of holding the flag and carrying it toward its final journey would finally be mine. Words can't describe the emotions that I was experiencing on this beautiful night.

PS. I'd like to tell my 6 year old son Brett how proud I am of him, and to thank him for his show of Patriotism and for running along with us. I would also like to acknowledge my sister and brother-in-law Dusty and Dave, Mom and Dad, Ky Gray and Tara Reisenbichler. In addition, a huge thank you to the Monrovia Police Department and Monrovia Fire Department, in particular Monrovia Police Sergeant Mike Head and Monrovia City Councilman Rob Hammond. The tremendous show of support from the Monrovia Police Department was incredible, truly adding to the whole effect!
