Less than 24 hours to go. I ran the six miles between Mentone, Ca and Highland Ca. It was already dark, cloudy and cool with rain threatening. Spirits were very high as I met my fellow runners from the Riverside County Sherrifs Department. We ran the six miles together at a very comfortable pace with a few other runners dropping in and out. We must have slowed traffic down on the two lane road but nobody cared about being delayed. Everyone we passed was jubilant and excited to see the beautiful flag, to be a part of the experience. We handed the flag off to about 10 Marine Reservists from Seal Beach in front of a crowd of about 50. They smartly proceeded down Foothill Blvd. and the last 60 miles to LA. What an accomplishment!
