I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing my 16 year old daughter, Amanda Poole, to carry the flag today. We only heard about the flag run on Thursday evening, Oct. 25. My daughter called her JROTC teacher and asked if she could be excused from her first hour class on Friday because she wanted to participate in carrying the flag. He agreed. We showed up at the foot of the Texas Street bridge in Shreveport, Louisiana this morning. My daughter introduced herself to one of the organizers and asked to be allowed to participate. He told her to sign a waiver and that if she fell into the pack and kept up with the pace, she would get her chance to carry the flag. During the stop at the courthouse, my daughter was unable to find someone to get a waiver. She fell in behind the front-runner anyway and had kept the pace for about a mile when someone said, "I think this little lady wants a turn." She was allowed to carry the flag for about 1/10 mile. She was honored, literally, to tears. Our family is so proudly American. Thank you for allowing my daughter to participate in a demonstration of patriotism, compassion, and support that she will remember for the rest of her life. I have ordered a tee shirt from your website to place in her Christmas stocking this year as a remembrance of this very special event. Thank you again. Laura Poole
