I was one of the participants in NJ from Princeton to the Pennsylvania handoff and it was a great experience! Paul did a fantastic job and the local and state police gave us a well lit escort. The group from Menlo Park arrived in Princeton at 7:30 pm and we picked it up and carried it for the next 2 1/2 hours to Morrisville, PA, where we arrived at exactly 10PM. Paul had it figured out and paced us so we would hit the border just when the time line said so.
I found out about the run late Friday night when I read my local newspaper, (The Times of Trenton). So I found the web site and started sending e-mails but figured the run was underway and didn't expect a reply. I read the instructions about where the NJ runners were meeting so I went to Princeton at 4PM and met the group. There were 20 volunteer runners and a dozen of us made the entire trek to Morrisville. I am the Recruiting Manager for the NJ Army National Guard so I launched an e-mail to 12 of my counterparts in states where the flag will be passing and explained to them what an exciting opportunity it would be to get involved in. I will do some follow-up first thing Monday but I notified all the states from Maryland-West. I also gave them the website address.
Thanks again for a fantastic experience and I wish you and your group the best throughout the rest of the run. I only wish I could be in LA for the finish!
Be safe,
