About This Service
The link above is made possible by the oustanding support being provided by the New Mexico Members of the American Radio Relay League and the New Mexico Search and Rescue Support Team.
Location information, converted to latitude and longitude (lat/long), is transmitted from a truck that is meeting the runners at the Texas border (at 11/01/2001 4:30 PM MST) and will stay with them until they cross into Arizona (at 11/06/2001 6:00 AM MST). Any information displayed outside those times relfects the tracking truck en-route to/from the runners.
The tracking truck sends the lat/log frequently (about every three minutes) and then it is stored on the web server awaiting your inquiry. When you click on the link above, the images are created based on the lat/long transmitted by the truck. The page shows the last time the position was sent and this is important if you are trying to determine the current location (if the last update was an hour ago and the runners are still in New Mexico, it is likely [but not absolute on account of planned stops, etc] the runners are now 5 miles down the road of where the picture shows).
The American Radio Relay League and the New Mexico Search and Rescue Support Team are doing their best to provide this information in real time, but if there are lapses or problems, please bear with them... they are doing their absolute best to get you the information you want and we cannot thank them enough for the dedication, spirit, and enthusiasm they are displaying.
