I was as many, very overwhelmed and proud to be an American and to see this demonstration of American resolve for the loss of so many lives. To see so many volunteer to take this Flag Across America in a National effort to symbolically complete the flights of the planes that were hijaked by terrorists on Sept. 11.
The day became very emotional when I seen this Flag that was being carried across our State in an effort of support to the families of the victims. I am so proud to be just a tiny part of this Flag Across America.
As my 4 year old Granddaughter and I stood beside highway 152 about 17½ East of Cordell, I seen the Flag approching and I backed up from my granddaughter in order to get a picture of her as the Flag passed in front of her. When Suddenly I seen the runners veer towards to her. I was overcome by emotion. Through tears I seen the runner go to her and he asked, "Would you like to hold the Flag?" She looked at me questionable and I said, "Yes Bayleigh, hold the Flag! Hold the Flag sweetheart!" I was then able to get these very wonderful pictures of these men handing and helping this little girl hold this Flag that is now a part of America Forever. For me to experience this very emotional moment was absolutely grand.
As the runners ran back out onto the Highway I wondered who they were then realized they are Americans helping Americans, But i hope maybe some way they will see these pictures and know they made one little girl very happy, when they made her a part of this wonderful National effort to remember and support those who gave it all on Sept 11.
God Bless America and the Runners.
