Folks,
As I have now awoken from my deep sleep after the marathon drive from the Murrah building site to Texola (minus a few minutes) at four miles per hour I want to pass on my THANKS to you all. You did a magnificent job. I am proud to have participated with you in helping to coordinate this effort. I have not seen anything like this pride in our country since our return from Desert Storm and the tremendous outpouring of patriotism back then.
Sometimes there were times I did not think I would make it through that first night with noone to talk to in the RV. Fritz, tell Hank THANKS for keeping me awake last night. Last night went very fast and it was due to you, Hank and Tony passing the time.
I know there are things that we could have changed to improve our process if we had a second chance to do this again but in the end I think we have given this great state something to talk about for a very long time. I will personally never forget those folks out in the country and in the small towns who stopped along the road to take their hats off, place their hand over their hearts or salute as our flag passed them and their town. I hope we have done a small part to teach the kids of OK to love their country and their flag. I hope they will never forget the day that the flag passed their town. Dave, the route selection was outstanding.
I will never forget this great experience. Now (as my wife is so found of reminding me) it is back to the job hunt full time.
Keep in touch. I am proud to know you and to call you friends.
Tim Johnson
OK Coordinator
