My name is John Volker and I am 10 years old. My Dad
woke me up at 2:30 in the morning so we could go and
watch the flag run through Lewisville, TX. We waited
on the side of the road until the flag got there. We
thought we were just going to watch, but when it got
there I just had to run. My brother and 3 sisters ran
too and my parents followed in the van. We ran behind
the other runners. All the runners were passing the
flag around. When I got to hold the flag, I felt a
rush of freedom go through my body. I held the flag
as high as I could. Running with the flag was an
experience that I will never forget. Thank you.
