Hi,
My name is Kay Ledbetter and I was excited, thrilled and honored to be a part of the Flag Run as it came through Amarillo, Texas. Even though it was Halloween night, my son Joshua, 14, and daughter Kaycee, 13, joined me to help carry the flag to the break scheduled at the John Stiff Memorial Park in Amarillo before it continued on its way. Kaycee and I, who don't consider ourselves runners, were not sure how far we could go. But once you saw the flag and held it in your hands, there was an extra energy burst, a sense of pride I've never known before. Even Joshua said he felt like he was flying and could have run for miles. It was a tremendous experience and one we did in memory of the many who suffered on Sept. 11, 2001 and also in honor of those, such as my husband, Randy, who's Texas Army National Guard unit has been activated as a part of Operation Noble Eagle in support of homeland defense. He proudly serves his country and Joshua, Kaycee and I felt like carrying the flag, even if it was just for a short distance, was something we could do to show our support. God Bless America.
