On October 31st it was my honor to join other members of the Lone Star Running Club in bearing the flag westward toward its' final destination. Words fail to measure the feelings of pride and patriotism I felt while carrying the flag and running alongside it as others took their turn. How fitting that the first miles were run along what was America's highway, the old Route 66, before cutting over again to run along what is now America's highway, I-40. Just before sitting down to write this, I returned from a 5 mile run timed to end at about the same time the flag would reach Dockweiler Beach in honor of those lost on 9-11 and to support all the patriots who did their parts, large and small, to bring this heart stirring adventure to fruition and completion.
