Hereford, Texas Coordinator’s Diary
From Mesquite, Texas
November 10, 2001
To My Fellow Americans/Texans:
My wife and I, who are from Mesquite, Texas, were so honored and blessed to coordinate the Hereford, Texas base camp for the Flag Across America Run. After several long distance phone calls, e-mails, and many long miles of driving to coordinate this event, the great people and organizations from Dawn to Farwell, Texas stole the hearts of our family. After our return home, we quickly realized how much we missed the love, appreciation, and devotion of everyone. It made us wish that all cities, big or small, were like the Great Americans in the panhandle of Texas. This experience has shown us the true colors of love that all Americans share. So we would like to say a BIG Thanks to everyone who helped us out with this historic event.
Throughout the past few days, I have tried to find the right words to describe my experience as the coordinator for the Hereford base camp with the Flag Across America Run and what experience my fellow coordinators may have gone through. After many thoughts, I realized the Flag Across America Run was like realizing that a new baby is on the way... You are excited at first, then the closer it gets the more anxious you are to get things prepared for the arrival. Finally the day of the arrival, there is a lot of nervousness, restlessness, and enthusiasm all at the same time. But once it is over with you have a lot of joy, happiness, pride and most of all a new perspective on life.
This whole historic event has made our family proud to be Americans! Thank you for an experience that our family will keep with us for the rest of our life! And most of all our prayers & thoughts go out to all those who lost a loved one on September 11, 2001 and to all those who serve our Great Country.
God Bless America!

PS. In the past few weeks, we have made more new friends (and close ones I may add) then we have made in the past years. Thanks so much for your love & kindness! We will never forget you all!
