Knowing that the run would come through Hawkins, Texas four minutes after midnight (Saturday morning), We drove east on US 80 and what a thrill it was when we saw all of the fire trucks, police cars with their flashing red lights and flags everywhere. We met the runners, turned around , and came back to Hawkins and parked by the highway to see them come through our town. To see all of the people to turned out for the event, and especially to see the kids warmed my heart.
