Dear Flag Run Texas Folks:
A mass mailing was sent out to you about the flag run while I was flying this week. Although I did not write that email, I’d like to share one more reflection about how you all have changed our lives:
The Texas coordinators have all returned to flying, and we’ve done so with a renewed appreciation for the citizens in this great state, and all across America. The flag run was/is a great event for Americans, by Americans. The heroes in Texas were the American people who came out in the middle of the day and night to honor the flag with all their might.
We’ve never been more proud than to work with you, in a great effort, by the people of USA. What we witnessed in Texas was as humbling as it was awesome: the flag run transcended politics, employer, race, religion, gender, and any other so-called differences. We found that when we’re in running shorts and sweat pants, we’re a whole lot more alike than we are different. To run the flag was as simple as it is was universal: Americans United.
You all have touched our lives with your running shoe ‘soles’ more than you will ever know. While we don’t know you by name, we take your faces, your stories, and your inspiration with us. You have shown us what we all are made of—and we are forever grateful.
Your spirit of dedication to honor your fellow Americans with your sweat and tears has left us without words.
Again, we thank you.
Laura Joyce Hubbard
