Flag run organization and rules:

This has grown beyond belief. In some places, it will be a street party. Call your friends and neighbors and get them out.... somewhere along the path of the Flag. It will certainly be a life long memory... a GOOD one, unlike some earlier events.

Rules for Runners:

  1. Wear Black shorts and a black armband on left arm if you can
  2. Stay in a group, we’ll go slowly so don’t straggle out, especially in the towns and cities.
  3. ALWAYS stay behind the police escort, never lead. That will protect you from a driver who is in a hurry and doesn’t see the lone runner.
  4. At night wear the reflective vest and a light colored tee shirt
  5. Drink water before the run and have snack for after the run. The RV has limited H2O.
  6. If you are by yourself have emergency contact info for RV incase something happens
  7. If you are an RV rider, you may be asked to drive for a while
  8. Have fun but be responsible and courteous to others
  9. As people join in the Flag can be passed, around, but PLEASE treat this FLAG with respect and honor all that it represents. Remember the Red in the stripes represents the blood that others spilt, often their own, so we could have the freedom we enjoy today.
  10. Remember why we are here, its not just to run. Resolve and Remembrance!!

Organization of run: 210 miles of rural roads, hills, and cities. There will be some who ride and run as a shuttle team in the second RV. They are responsible for ensuring the run is completed. They will run with the Flag. Forty seven (47) points along the path of the Flag have been provided for you. Please join in anywhere along the way. I would recommend getting to a point 30 minutes early. Meet people and be friendly. Take pictures and enjoy the crowd, large or small. If a couple of folks come together in a car, some jog along while the other(s) drive behind the RV. If you come with several cars in a larger group. I would recommend you all drive to the end or your personal run. Drop off all the cars but one. Put everyone in that car (or two) and drive it to the beginning of your run. When you finish, most will have their car at the end. Don’t forget to take the start driver back to his/her car when you are finished.

Celebrate but don’t drink and drive.

Continue to listen to 101.5 and B 103 for flag updates. Frequent the web site over the next 30 days. Comments and pictures will be posted at least every other day.

THANK YOU ALL for your patience with my work and for participating in this worthy event.

God Bless each and everyone

Faithfully,
Gary Boettcher
