Hi Everyone, I just want to say that I am amazed at the willingness of everyone involved. Every call I made was so well recepted. My only regret about this event is the fact that I just can't contact everyone. It is nearly impossible. There are about 100 runners that want to run through the Phx area but we only have about 20 miles to cover. I just can't coordinate that. So this invitation goes out to all of those people who volunteered but may not have been contacted directly via a phone call the past few days. Here's what you need to do: Check the AZ Timeline which is located on the website, flagrun2001.org and then under state information, click AZ, then you can look at the timeline for AZ. This gives very accurate, detailed information about the run, basically where it will be and when. We want a large group to run through Metro areas, so the areas we have not definitively scheduled are points #'d 12-14. This is where the rest of you come in. Pick a location that works best for you, show up there a little before the scheduled time (1/2 hour to an hour, allow some time for traffic), and help us bring that flag across the Mesa, Tempe, and Phoenix area. Even if there is a scheduled runner, you can run with them. The flag is heavy and I'm sure they won't mind passing it off. I am going to be there for this leg of the run and if you registered over the website, I want you to check in with me, I have the help list and I will make sure you get to hold the flag. I am going to be wearing a shirt with a flag on the front, and on the back, it is going to say, ASK ME, I'M A COORDINATOR. I hope everyone understands that we want all of you to help out but just don't have the resources to contact all of you. And listen, if you don't show up, I am going to be stuck running that flag all the way to Phoenix by myself and I know I won't make it. So get there! There are plenty of places to leave your vehicles and you can get a ride back with one of our chaser vehicles. If anyone wants to reach me, please feel free to call me at home Wednesday evening, I would be happy to talk with you. 480-555-5555. If I left you a message asking you to run in some West Bum---- town, at some ungodly hour of the night, for miles on end, please call me back. If you can't do it, I need to know ASAP. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing and meeting everyone next week! A little side note: we may have to change the route at the end of the run. Instead of going through Quartzsite and Ehrenberg, we may have to head up NW at Hope to Parker. This is not confirmed yet, so if it happens for sure, we'll let you know. If this happens, it is for the safety of the runners, (I hear there is major construction and restrictions).
